GILL

Gill is a British manufacturer of technical sailing clothing, with over thirty years of presence on the market. Since 1975, the company has grown into one of the most recognisable brands. Its founder, passionate sailor Nick Gill, believed it was possible to produce affordable clothing that could be completely trusted in all weather conditions.

In the early 1980s, Gill was already presenting technical clothing at trade shows and soon became the official equipment supplier for the America’s Cup challengers, the ‘Lionheart’ crew. Technological progress and innovation led the company to produce a broad range of waterproof garments, footwear, thermal base layers for cold conditions and other technical clothing for performance sailors. Gill also holds a significant market share in equipment for offshore racing sailors, precisely because of its commitment to quality and affordability. In the 1990s, Gill became the official kit supplier for British Olympic class sailors.

Gill was the first to introduce a ‘3-layer’ system for offshore sailing garments and introduced its own product characteristic labelling system based on a 5-point control system. This helps customers choose the right model (including price point) according to individual needs.
