Wichard was founded in 1919 in Thiers by Henri Wichard. The company was initially specialised in the manufacture of forged safety parts for industry. In the early 1970s, a decisive turning point came through collaboration with the leading sailors of the time – including Moitessier, Tabarly and Alain Colas – in developing the first equipment for boats. The company has nonetheless maintained its strong industrial operations throughout.

Fifty years later, the Wichard brand accompanies generations of sailors around the world. Wichard products now equip all major shipyards, are used by the most demanding sailors, and are sold on 5 continents through the company’s global distribution network.
