HARKEN
Harken is the world’s leading manufacturer of deck hardware and accessories in the marine industry. The company was founded by brothers Peter and Olaf Harken in 1966 in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, and in that same year they patented a ball-bearing block that represented a true revolution in the industry at the time. The block was part of the equipment used by crews who won medals at the 1966 Olympic Games in Acapulco. And the trend continues. The company is still renowned today for its innovative solutions and premium-quality products, with which it dominates not only the competitive scene but also the recreational sailing market. Harken deck hardware can be found on large cruising yachts, the world’s top regatta boats, as well as on other sports sailboats and Olympic classes.
Today, Harken’s headquarters in America houses the deck hardware design and engineering department (blocks, travellers, roll and bat-car systems, etc.) as well as logistics and finance. In Limido, near Milan, is the centre for the development, design and manufacture of winches for the entire world market. With its distribution network, Harken covers all continents and has a strong presence in the Mediterranean.
